One of the significant differences between CORE providers and traditional treatment when it comes to substance use disorder, is that CORE aims to provide low barrier access to immediate care. To accomplish this, Hernando County Community Paramedics partner with BayCare Behavioral Health. Our Community Medics will meet with you in our office, or come to you. A clinical setting is not necessary. You need not have insurance. There is no fee for service. We will meet with you one on one, discuss your concerns, collect a medical history, and began to determine which resources would be best suited for your circumstances. If appropriate, Medication Assisted Treatment can often be initiated same day. Medication assisted treatment helps to mitigate withdrawal symptoms allowing a participant to focus on all aspects of recovery. Community Medics will continue to meet with you daily for treatment, and facilitate an introduction and warm hand off to BayCare Behavioral Health who then establish a long term care plan which can include Medication Assisted Treatment, Behavioral and Therapy Services, Primary Medical Care, Housing and Occupational assistance as needed.
In an effort to form a true cohesive network of care, our Community Medics work diligently to establish and maintain good working relationships with all of our community partners and to become familiar with the many resources they have to offer.
